- First wave on X: "Ayatollah BBC" and "controlled opposition" - Within a day, accounts sympathetic to Reza Pahlavi framed the film as a reformist and BBC project. @Azadlavasani (post with about 3,500 likes) wrote that critics had a right to suspect the whole "Taraneh Alidoosti project and the interview with Ayatollah BBC" was an intelligence ministry plan, asking why it did not attack the Islamic Republic. @Hila1363 wrote: "The scenario was written in advance and the roles carefully divided. Actor: Taraneh Alidoosti, director: Pegah Ahangarani, broadcast: BBC." @Savakzadeh called it "Controlled opposition at work" and posted a clip of her mourning Rafsanjani. Ehsan Zareei wrote that Alidoosti "has been a classic reformist celebrity" and that a film about her was made, broadcast by the BBC and promoted by "holders of white SIM cards" (a jibe at users with privileged unfiltered internet). Another widely shared post (@trumpnejad) said the interview had "woken the reformists from hibernation". Hamvatan24 reported that the main weapon used against both women was their past campaigning for Mousavi in 2009 and Hassan Rouhani in 2013. Ehsan Zareei: a classic reformist celebrity

The same account called the film a reformist bid to present her to the West "as a new leader". In the BBC transcript the remark comes in a passage about cinema: "It hasn't even been three years... Imagine even ten more years go by. In the cultural history of a country, what is that?", referring to changing the visual habits of Iranian film. Sativa888 on the ten years remark
